18th Annual Richard’s Run For Life $100,000 Increases Total Donation To $1.4 Million For Moffitt Cancer Center

Nov. 4, 2019 – The 18th annual Richard’s Run for Life 5K raised $100,000 to Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute, bringing the multi-year total to $1.4 million.

“Thank you to all the runners, walkers, diners, volunteers, supporters and sponsors who joined us on Nov. 1 at the starting line in our quest to find better treatments to combat cancer and one day have a cure,” said Richard Gonzmart, fourth-generation caretaker of the Columbia Restaurant Group.

The donation will fund the brachytherapy suite being built at Moffitt Cancer Center. Brachytherapy treats prostate, cervical, breast and sarcoma cancers. This new suite will effectively double the number of patients that can be treated.

The Gonzmart Family Foundation donated 100 percent of the revenue and covered 100 percent of the expenses.

Next year’s race is Friday, Nov. 6, 2020.
